The Council of Veterans of the Armed Forces and Combat Actions of the Republic awarded medals to defenders of the Fatherland, social activists and journalists.
The event took place at the memorial complex to the fallen defenders of the Fatherland in Tskhinval and was timed to coincide with the Day of adoption of the Act of Declaration of Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia.
As emphasized by Chairman of the Council of Veterans Valery Tedeev, the awards were presented by order of the head of the Main Directorate of the Federation of the Union of Cossacks of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Boris Shcherbin.
“Today we have awarded those who were involved in the formation of our Republic. We congratulate everyone on their awards,” Tedeev said.
Among the awardees is the editor-in-chief of the “Res” news agency, Maya Kharebova. She was awarded the medal "For Military Labor". A similar medal was awarded to the correspondent of the newspaper "Khurzaerin" Marfa Vazagova.
