I assess the work of the permanent commission on cooperation between the Parliament of South Ossetia and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation as fruitful and constructive, noted the head of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-parliamentary relations, co-Chairman of the Commission Zaza Driaev.
A new composition of the permanent commission was previously approved at the parliamentary session.
“Changes were also made to the composition of the commission from the Russian party, and as soon as the new co-Chairman from the Federation Council of Russia is introduced, the first working meeting will take place,” the press service of the legislative body quotes Driaev as saying.
According to the head of the Committee, over the past five years of joint work, problematic and pressing issues related to the development of the Republic have been raised.
“We met jointly with relevant ministers of Russia, thanks to which all these issues were resolved. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the co-Chairman of the Commission from the Russian side, Sergei Tsekov, who has done a great deal of work with us. There are many issues that have not yet been completed, and we will continue to work on them with our colleagues," the parliamentarian has noted.
According to Zaza Driaev, the permanent commission on cooperation between the Parliament of South Ossetia and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation has included the Chairmen of the same Committees as before.
"After the election of deputies of this convocation to Parliament of South Ossetia, we approved the new composition of the Commission on cooperation. This is social and foreign policy, the committee on defense and security, economics and agriculture, as well as the committee on budget and taxes. But in addition to this, any deputy can take part in the work of the Commission, who can also raise any problematic issue. As soon as the composition of the Commission from the Russian Federation is formed, we will set a date and approve the agenda of the next meeting of the commission on cooperation," the deputy said.
The Commission on Cooperation between the Parliament of South Ossetia and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation was created in accordance with the agreement of the parties on inter-parliamentary cooperation of September 2, 2008.
It is a permanent body of inter-parliamentary cooperation and is formed on a parity basis. Meetings are held, as a rule, twice a year, alternately in South Ossetia and Russia. Each part of the Commission is headed by chairmen.
