South Ossetia paid last tributes to Alexander Gagloev, perished while performing his military duty in the special military operation zone.
The Republic's leadership, headed by President Alan Gagloev, the deceased's comrades-in-arms, and the public came to bid farewell to the fighter.
A representative of the family spoke about Alexander's boundless love for the Motherland, his courage, noting that he was a great patriot.
"Alik was wounded twice in the special military operation zone, but each time he recovered his health and returned to help his comrades-in-arms. Unfortunately, the subsequent wound was fatal for him. He was listed missing. We were waiting for him for more than a year, hoping that he would be alive...", - the representative of the family said at the funeral rally.
The fighter last contacted on November 29, 2023.
A month later, the information was received that Alexander had died, but it was not possible to evacuate the fighter's body from the battlefield due to constant hostilities in the area of the front where he died.
The fighter's body was recently identified by the DNA analysis.
Alexander was 42 years old. He left behind 2 children.
By decree of the head of state, Alexander Gagloev was posthumously awarded the Medal "Defender of the Fatherland".
