The apparatus of the south-ossetian part of JCC has sent a letter to the co-chairmen of JCC from the Russian, the North-Ossetian and the Georgian sides, in which in particular it is spoken:
«On August, 31st the Georgian mass media have spread a statement referring the senior military chief of the georgian battalion of JPKF Mamuka Kurashvili, that the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Eduard Kokojty has ostensibly proposed the establishment of means of anti-missile defence on the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia. In the information of the georgian mass-media there are also given the offensive words of M.Kurashvili in the address of the supreme political leader of the Republic of South Ossetia.
The South-Ossetian part of JCC declares that the words of the President of RSO are roughly distorted in the given information. It is not a question of the means of anti-missile defence but about the means of air defence that completely meet the earlier signed agreements, which provide the presence of helicopters and means of antiaircraft defence at the disposal of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces in the zone of the conflict.
Mr. Kurashvili should understand what the President of RSO has particularly declared before making hasty statements. The senior military chief of the battalion of JPKF should not trust the unchecked information and make hasty statements on its basis, that roughly break the mandate of a peacemaker.
We address the Georgian part of JCC and also the Mission of OSCE in Georgia with a requirement to understand the actions of M.Kurashvili and to give corresponding information to all the parties, entering the structure of JCC, and involved in settlement of the georgian-ossetian conflict.
We are convinced, that a person with such a spirit cannot head a battalion, involved in a peace-making operation in the zone of the conflict, and his actions can do essential harm instead of benefit to the business of settlement of the georgian-ossetian conflict and can extremely negatively affect the activity of JPKF».
Copies of the letter are also directed to the Head of the Mission of OSCE in Georgia Mr.Veselin Nikolaev and the acting Commander of JPKF the lieutenant colonel Dubbelmav.
