The signing of agreements on non-resumption of hostilities is the main issue that South Ossetia has been raising at the Geneva Discussions for a long time. This was stated by the head of the South Ossetian delegation Konstantin Kochiev at the meeting with the co-chairs of the Geneva Discussions in Tskhinval.

A meeting of the OSCE, UN and EU co-chairs of the Geneva Discussions with the South Ossetian delegation is taking place in Tskhinval on Tuesday. The parties are discussing preparations for the 63rd meeting.

“Although we understand how difficult it is to find any solutions, we urge you to do everything possible to finally reach mutually acceptable solutions,” Kochiev said.

Kochiev also noted the importance of the issue of searching for the missing persons.

"For South Ossetia, the priority is, of course, the missing persons. In fact, we all understand that we are talking about the Ossetians forcibly abducted by the Georgian side. We know that they were held for some time by the Georgian security forces," Kochiev has specified.

The head of the South Ossetian delegation positively assessed the return of the Geneva discussions to a normal working rhythm and the existence of a mechanism for preventing and responding to incidents.

"This is a very good tool for maintaining stability and security," he has added.

The EU Co-Chair Magdalena Grono expressed hope for a fruitful meeting and stressed the importance of preventing conflicts in a difficult economic situation.

"We are now in a very difficult economic situation, and I think that the main focus of our work should be on using all means to prevent conflicts," she said.

Gronno confirmed her readiness to discuss all items on the agenda, including the agreement on the non-use of force and the search for the missing persons.
