A ceremonial meeting devoted to the third anniversary of entering the Russian FSS Border Control Agency into the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia has been held in Tskhinval. The meeting was attended by President of the RSO Leonid Tibilov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Republic of South Ossetia Elbrus Kargiev, a commander of the 4th Russian military base Alexander Shushukin, Minister of Defense of South Ossetia Valery Yakhnovets, the management and employees of the FSS Border Control Agency of Russia in South Ossetia, the Russian border guards` families. According to the head of the FSS Border Control Agency of Russia in South Ossetia, Colonel Valery Reznichenko, three years the Russian border guards have been patrolling the border of South Ossetia with Georgia in accordance with an agreement between Russia and South Ossetia on joint efforts to protect the state border of South Ossetia, which was signed April 30, 2009.
"It all started almost from scratch, with creating the military units, with having a knowledge of the area, creation of the necessary conditions for productive work, establishing friendly relations with the inhabitants of the Republic, the establishment of cooperation with the South Ossetian border guards for high-quality joint patrolling of the frontier"-reminded Reznichenko.
On behalf of the people of South Ossetia the Russian border guards were congratulated by Leonid Tibilov, who thanked them for their honest and responsible service in the territory of the Republic.
"Today's date is another milestone in the history of the Border Guard Service of the Russian Federation. It is a landmark event in the life of South Ossetia and in the chronicle of our bilateral relations, the real implementation of the Russian-Ossetian agreements, especially the agreements on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance - the president said. - We are grateful to this great country, which claimed responsibility for security of the state border of our country, for all that has been done and is being done for the future of our state, for the sake of peace and stability in the Transcaucasia region."
According to Tibilov, for the last three years Russia has done a lot of work to strengthen the border of South Ossetia.
"Border guards and frontier posts are along the entire perimeter of the state border with Georgia, stretching about 350 kilometers, close relations are established with the government authorities of South Ossetia, supported by friendly constructive contacts with the border population, military camps are being built successively, bilateral cooperation in protecting the state border, formation and strengthening the national border guards is being developed, - stressed Tibilov. - The joint efforts of the border control promoted to stabilize the economic and military-political situation in the Republic, created the conditions for peaceful constructive life."
Elbrus Kargiev also congratulated the Russian border guards on the significant date, noting their valorous service.
"In a short time we managed to do very much, first of all, we managed to create conditions for our border guards and this is a care of the leadership of the Russian Federation, which could not but touch, - said Kargiev. - In response to concern of the leadership of our country our young guards created families and it could not but gladden the hearts. Only during the last year and a half the Consular Department of the Russian Federation issued the documents to 23 families of the young South Ossetian border guards in the territory of South Ossetia, as well as several birth certificates to the babies."
Russian border guards were also congratulated by Valery Yakhnovets and Alexander Shushukin.
The most distinguished Russian border guards were awarded by the state decorations of South Ossetia and Russia.
