Yesterday a meeting of the South Ossetian delegation at the Geneva talks on security with the co-chairs of the OSCE, EU and UN was held in Tskhinval. After the meeting they travelled to the village of Khelchua (Tskhinval district of South Ossetia), bordering on the village of Zardiantkari (Georgia), where June 29 the Georgian policemen had moved their post closer to the South Ossetian border.
As reported to IA "Res" by Presidential Envoy to post-conflict settlement, Murat Dzhioev, in Khelchua was held a meeting of co-chairs with the locals, who had been forced to leave their homes due to the placing of the Georgian police post.

"Co-chairs saw themselves the proximity of the post to our border and were convinced that local residents whose homes appeared to be close to the post, had left their homes, and were living with their relatives. Residents of the village expressed their deep concern and fear due to the proximity of the police post to their homes ", -said Dzhioev.
He once again reminded that the South Ossetian villagers of Zardiantkari were the people who had suffered in the 90s.
"One woman told me that for nine years she had been a refugee in South Ossetia, but when the situation became more or less stable, she decided to return. Regained her farm, home, and now once again she is forced to become a refugee, because she has no guarantee that she will not be oppressed again by the Georgian authorities and the police "- said Dzhioev.
According to him, a thorough discussion was held at the spot; the co-chairs pledged to assure the Georgian authorities that this post should be removed to its original place. "At the same time residents of Khelchua emphasized that they understood that it was the territory of Georgia, but considering the past persecutions, they were very worried and asked the international organizations to help them in defusing the situation", - said the plenipotentiary.
Dzhioev has noted that the co-chairs were convinced that this situation created tension not only in the area, but also in the adjacent territories of South Ossetia.
"They were assured that there was a large field of work for the European Union international observers, which are designed to ensure the security of South Ossetia is the border areas. And the village of Zardiantkari is under the direct vision of the EU observers, "- underlined Dzhioev.
The Presidential Envoy recalled that at one of the MPRI meeting had been reached the "gentlemen's agreement", that the Georgian posts would not be placed closer than 500 meters to the border of South Ossetia.
"However, this agreement has been violated and the Georgian police post was set up 230-250 meters away from our border," - stressed Dzhioev.
According to him, the co-chairs expressed their concern and assured that they would try to influence on the Georgian side.
