Some of the hottest Russian authors have tried to present the recent concert of the Georgian ensemble "Erisioni" as a herald of improvement of the Russian-Georgian relations. However, in Georgia there are completely different views on this event.
"A few weeks ago, it became known that, in Moscow, in the Kremlin Palace of Congresses, in early March will be conducted a concert of the famous Georgian group ''Erisioni''. The last time thisgroup visited Russia in 2007, when relations between Russia and Georgia were at relatively quiet level. A year later, the Russian government has committed a military aggression against Georgia, after which diplomatic relations between the two countrieswere broken off ... Some may not agree with my words, but I do not want the Georgian singing in Russia, while the occupying forces prohibit the Georgians their native language in Abkhazia. Just as I do not want to drink Georgian wine and Borjomi,'' touched by Onishchenko. There are such things as honor and dignity. Our ancestors knew their value and were not afraid to give their lives as sacrifice for such conceptions. That is why the Georgians preserved their statehood and the nation, and have not become a part of someone`s history. How we`ll look in the face of our descendants, if we swap our honor for the ticket in the Kremlin, or for a bottle of wine, "- writes the Georgian news agency "Georgia Online" in the article "The Georgian dance of disgrace," March 5, 2013.
But to spite these forces, such ensembles as "Sukhishvilebi" and "Rustavi" are planning to go on tour in Russia. This was stated by the head of the group "Erisioni" Jemal Chkuaseli in the same edition on March 10, 2013 (the article "Russia is going to be toured by the Rustaveli Theatre, ''Sukhishvilebi'' and "Rustavi").
"The fact that we are here, is not amatter of great consequence, but soon it will be made some steps - the Rustaveli Theater, the groups "Suhishvilebi "and "Rustavi" will soon arrive here. It`s very good. We must cherish each other, "- said Chkuaseli.
Reasoning the results of the last year parliamentary elections in Georgia is still ongoing. Nodar Pkhelsheli in the article "The logic of the current events," on March 7, 2013 wrote about the Prime Minister of Georgia Ivanishvili: "The first thing that catches the eye is the fact that he has established a rigid dictatorship on almost all levels of the government, ie Nobody has the right to utter a word without the first agreeing with him. We have already a clear example of the resignation of Alasania. By itself, the dictatorship is not always bad, if focused on the benefit of the state and the people, but on the other hand the overthrow of the totalitarian regime by Saakashvili'', ie his '' dictatorship'' was the main slogan of the former opposition ... This motto is also in force. What have we got? Replacement of one ''dictatorship'' by the more hard-line one? After the election, the President without unnecessary emotions conceded defeat to the new government, perhaps more than he should, and thus made it clear that he was ready to cooperate for the good of the homeland, but his message was not properly understood and the situation is getting worse day by day. The current Prime applies more energy on settling a score with the President and his supporters, rather than on reforms for the benefit on his homeland. "
We are afraid to tire the reader by the wordy quote, but it is worth of it: "Anyone who has seen and heard Ivanishvili has probably noticed that he is not a man of great intellect. The signs of this fact are- tongue-tied in the Russian and Georgian languages, his statements and utterances, which afterwards have to be interpreted or changed, doubtful projects that cause irritation of the public. His intellectual potential is lower than that of the hated ''Saakashvili'', but at the same time cold and precise estimation has been running through all his activities before the election and after it. This suggests that he has very intelligent advisers. There is not such kind of men among his entourage. But who are they? Here the logic makes one more rotational motion. Despite the numerous assurances of Ivanishvili and his ministers on constant pro-Western course, one could observe the veiled radical change of their policy towards the North. We are dealing with a well-known and reliable political stunt that is successfully used by politicians throughout the human history - making the expected statements, promising as much as possible, marking time, lulling vigilance, destroying the opposing forces, and in the meantime, step by step doing what's on your mind. The scheme is quite simple - the further away from the West, the closer to Russia. Everything is done to turn us away from the West, to weaken the opposition and the president, to demoralize the society, to spread pro-Russian sentiments like'' better to be well-fed and dependent, than independent, but hungry'', consistently put the country in the energy and economic dependence on Russia and without noise and dust present Georgia on a silver platter to its northern neighbor, as they say,'' with all the guts.'' No one will be surprised if after some time, the government will sign with Russia the '' Bidzina Treaty''. Based on the foregoing, it becomes clear who are advisers and who is directing the current prime minister. They are the northern sages. This trend is already talked about in the society more and more confidently, or is gently hinted by some politicians and political analysts. As a rule, it`s hard to believe in such things, because it is difficult to prove them, but logic dictates its own rules. "
Thus, the article shows the existing concerns among the political forces and society about changing the Georgian Foreign vector for pro-Russian one. These concerns are caused by the beliefs about the hostility of Russia for the Georgian state, strengthened during the ruling of Saakashvili, stagnation in the period of Saakashvili, in contrast to the ruling by Shevardnadze, understanding of the majority of ordinary people to recognize South Ossetia and Abkhazia, and building equal international relations with them.
"Based on the foregoing, one could suggest that the sun is again changing its trajectory and will soon start rising for us in the north, as in the old days. It will be possible to change this impending cataclysm so far, if people come out of the trance in time, and say the final word, "- comes to this conclusion the author.
Although the power in Georgia has changed 6 months ago and during this period it was possible to solve at least some of the problems facing the state, just as in the days of Saakashvili, the country is in the grip of strikes and protest actions.
" Tomorrow doctors of the Emergency Care Centre are planning a large-scale action. As reported to ''IPN'' by the emergency medical service doctors who had gone on a hunger strike, the protesters would demand the immediate reinstatement of the dismissed doctors. However, according to them, the administration began to intimidate the employees of the Center emergency medical care branches. According to the starving, the affiliates` staff is threatened that if they participate in the action, they will be dismissed. Several doctors of the Emergency Medical Care Center have been starving four days. They require the reinstatement of the dismissed employees and the change of the Center`s administration, "- writes the same edition in the article "Tomorrow Emergency Medical Care Center doctors are planning a large-scale action," on March 10, 2013.
Against this background, are revealed new abuses and crimes of members of Saakashvili's party "United National Movement."
"In the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia is interrogated the Tbilisi City Assembly member, representing the party ''United National Movement'' David Tsereteli.
According to the released information, David Tsereteli is testifying in connection with the activity of the LLC "Tbilservice groups" ...
Chairman of the faction "National Movement" in the metropolitan council Koki Ionatamishvili associates the interrogation of David Tsereteli with political persecution.
''I have the information that by April 19, hundreds of people will be calledfor interrogation. This is in order to somehow interfere with the planned action'' - said Ionatamishvili. It should be reminded that April 19 the'' United National Movement'' plans to hold a large-scale action in the center of Tbilisi "- wrote "Georgia Online" March 10, 2013, in the article " The Tbilisi city council member, a member of the UNM David Tsereteli is under interrogation . "
While there is no money for the development of many important areas of the economy and social sphere in Georgia, "since January 1, 2012 to January 31, 2013 in the Georgian Parliament were presented prizes amounted to $ 2,687,752 GE,." writes "Business Georgia" referring to the Institute of Freedom of Information.
"According to the Institute for Information Freedom Development, the MPs received on the average 280 GEL per month. As an additional material encouragement they also received two or three paychecks in April, June, November and December. So in April 2012, they were granted 421 825 GEL in June - 948,332 in November - 439,565 in December - 451 535 GEL, "- is noted in the newspaper.
March 7, 96 the Georgian Parliament adopted a resolution defining the main directions of the foreign policy of the country.
The document includes the following items :
"2. Georgia's foreign policy objectives are: creation of security guarantees to protect the independence and sovereignty, de-occupation of the territories and restoration of the unity of the country's internationally recognized borders.
3. The main priority of its foreign policy is integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic structures. To achieve its strategic priorities to become a member of EU and NATO, Georgia will take further steps to build and strengthen democratic institutions and the rule of law based on human rights and management systems, to ensure the irreversibility of sustainable economic development. Georgia will not become a member of the international organizations, which policy is contrary to the above priorities.
4. European and Euro-Atlantic foreign policy of Georgia will promote a sustainable democratic development and security of the country and is not directed against any country.
5. Georgia will pursue a consistent policy to implement the decisions made with respect to Georgia at the Bucharest Summit and the subsequent NATO summits. The near-term trend is to reach an agreement on the modalities and timing."
So, the talks about the alleged change of the foreign policy priorities of Georgia with the new authorities and its reorientation towards Russia are just the empty demagoguery aimed at receiving various concessions and dividends from Russia. One should not yield to these promises and change material goods for empty or non-binding conversations.
Such are the main topics covered by the Georgian media last week.
