Tskhinval resumed work the on a political document on the non-use of force by Georgia against South Ossetia and Abkhazia, Konstantin Kochiev, State Advisor to President of the Republic of South Ossetia, said at the press conference in Tskhinval.
"We are once again attempting to return to this project, to finalize and supplement it. Our goal is to make a full-fledged political document that would indicate Georgia's refusal to use force as the argument in disputes with South Ossetia and Abkhazia," Kochiev said.
He expressed hope that the work on the draft of the new document would begin at the next meeting within the framework of the Geneva discussions.
"We do not expect this to be a quick and easy process, but it is necessary," he has stressed.
Kochiev has reminded that the development of such a document was underway back in 2017, but Georgia did not sign it.
He has emphasized that several projects were prepared by the Russian, South Ossetian and Abkhazian parties, but the Georgian party was avoiding the signing of this document in every possible way.
“As a result, the Russian party proposed as a first step the signing of the joint statement on the commitment of all participants to the principle of non-use of force. But the Georgian party categorically did not want to sign even such a political document. This was in December 2017 and since then we have not been able to return to it due to the position taken by the Georgian party,” Kochiev has stressed.
