A group of Russian tourists detained by the border guards of KGB of South Ossetia near the border village of Edys in Dzau district for illegal crossing the border-line.
As IA "Res" was informed by the First Deputy Chairman of the KGB of South Ossetia, the head of the border service, Major General Sergei Kolbin, a group of tourists had been detained in the afternoon of July 29.
"They were detained for violating the border regime and did not have proper documentation," - he said.
The group consisted of five people, four of whom were fined and expelled from the territory of the Republic.
"The team leader Dmitry Lemeshev was detained on suspicion of illegal business activities in the territory of South Ossetia. We have sent the materials to the prosecutor's office. Lemeshev was penalized under administrative law for violation of the border regime. Soon he will be expelled from the territory of the Republic under the Article 14 of the Law on the State Border of the Republic of South Ossetia."
Lemeshev, not being a citizen of the Republic of South Ossetia and the official representative of any organization, organized the hiking for Russian citizens in South Ossetia.
Kolbin added that the detained tourists were not trained to work in adverse weather conditions.
"The weather conditions have recently changed – it was heavy snowfall, the temperature has fallen. If they had not been detained, we would have had to organize a search- and -rescue operation. To some extent, we ruined their good mood, but they returned home alive, "- said Kolbin.
He has added that Mr Lemeshev was also earlier involved in such illegal business activities in the territory of South Ossetia.
