They threatened the workers with physical violence and abuse. The border guards certified the fact that the locals had been taken to the place of the incident by the car belonging to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
On the arrival of the representative of the Border Service of the KGB of South Ossetia, the situation was contained, despite the ongoing threats against the border guards and provocative behavior, and the local residents were expelled to the territory of Georgia. The European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia was informed about the incident.
With the mediation of the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia, September 17, at 15.00 on the scene of the incident was held a meeting of the Border representative of the KGB of South Ossetia with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
The Georgian side has been informed that the delimitation is being conducted in strict accordance with the boundaries of the former South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast as part of the GSSR and do not affect the territory of Georgia. Representatives of the Georgian Interior Ministry were cautioned that in case of a similar incident, the perpetrators would be detained and brought to administrative and criminal penalties in accordance with the legislation of South Ossetia.
The KGB of the Republic has considered the incident as a deliberate provocation of the Georgian authorities that does not contribute to stability on the border between South Ossetia and Georgia.
