Questions of establishing the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of South Ossetia and the state awards named after Vaso Abaev, were discussed at a meeting of the President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov with representatives of scientific and creative intelligentsia of the Republic, with participation of the Deputy Prime Minister Alla Dzhioeva, Deputy Speakers of Parliament Yuri Dzitstsoyty and Mira Tskhovrebova, Minister of Education and Science Marina Chibirova, Minister of Culture Makharbeg Kokoev, a Chairman of the Committee on Youth Policy, Sport and Tourism Sergey Zasseev, Rector of the South Ossetian State University Vadim Tedeev and representatives of the RSO Research Institute.
The President was submitted a draft of the Presidential Council of the Republic of South Ossetia on science, culture, architecture and urban planning. The head of state instructed the Deputy Prime Minister Alla Dzhioeva as soon as possible to identify candidates to serve on the Council.
"I was submitted the draft of the Council and I am ready to issue a decree on its establishment and composition, then the decisions will be taken with members of the Council," - said Leonid Tibilov.
As soon as the Council is established by the Presidential Decree, the agenda will face three important issues: to establish the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of South Ossetia, the establishment of the state awards named after Vaso Abaev and to release the South Ossetian State University and the Research Institute from subordination of the Ministry of Education and Science.
During the meeting the President spoke about the work of the ninth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for Socio-Economic Cooperation between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation, held in Tskhinval on November 26. He has noted that the restoration of social and cultural facilities is one of the priorities for 2014.
