The issues of bilateral cooperation between the ministries of agriculture of Russia and South Ossetia were discussed on Saturday by Acting Prime Minister Gennady Bekoev with Director of the Department of Crop Production, Mechanization, Chemicalization and Plant Protection of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Roman Nekrasov and President of the Association of Peasant (Farming) Farms and Agricultural Cooperatives of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania Igor Kadzaev.
According to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, the meeting was also attended by Acting Minister of Agriculture Alan Margiev; and Representative of the Russian Embassy in the RSO Alexander Zhurov.
Gennady Bekoev, having greeted the guests, expressed hope for fruitful cooperation and thanked for the support of the agrarian industry of the Republic in terms of replenishing the fleet of agricultural machinery.
“There are all the prerequisites for cooperation with Russia in every area of agricultural activity.
We familiarized our Russian colleagues with the Agricultural Development Program developed by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of South Ossetia. We need a systematic approach to the development of agriculture. We look forward to further effective interaction and assistance from our Russian colleagues,” Bekoev said.
According to Roman Nekrasov, the priority is the systematic provision of assistance to the agrarian sector of South Ossetia, including the provision of the necessary equipment.
“On behalf of Dmitry Nikolaevich Patrushev, the priority direction for us is to provide assistance to the agricultural sector, and there is also a task to provide the Republic with high-quality seed material. It is very important for us to understand the sequence of delivery of seeds to the Republic, we will link it with weather conditions, so that the seeds to b delivered directly at favorable times, "said Roman Nekrasov.
He has also noted that the organization of work is a laborious process and a difficult task to be solved by joint efforts, adding that it is planned to continue helping the Republic with the acquisition of agricultural machinery, since one of the main directions of the Republic's agricultural sector is the cultivation of grain crops.
“I would like the assistance we provide to the Republic to be targeted. We will help to attract people who have experience in digitizing land plots so that all cultivated lands is included in a single electronic map, in order to bring South Ossetian agriculture to a new technological level, "Roman Nekrasov emphasized.
