South Ossetia and Russia signed the agreement on dual citizenship. According to the document, citizens of one party have the right to acquire the citizenship of the other party without renouncing their citizenship.
The agreement was signed on Monday by South Ossetian Foreign Minister Dmitry Medoev and Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov.
September 20 is the 31st anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of South Ossetia. On this day in 1990, the Council of People's Deputies decided to raise the status of the autonomous region to the South Ossetian Soviet Democratic Republic within the Soviet Union.
