Establishing contacts with the Union State of Russia and Belarus for South Ossetia is one of the important directions in the field of foreign policy, President of Republic of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev said at the press conference in Tskhinval.

“At this stage, we are taking certain steps to increase contacts in the economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres,” the head of state has noted. - For a full-fledged political dialogue with the Union State, appropriate conditions are necessary. This is not a matter of one or two days.”

The issue of South Ossetia joining Russia was not removed from the agenda, South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev said during the final press conference.

“There is no need to deceive the people. In the current situation there is no way to resolve the issue. We are in constant contact with our Russian colleagues. It is not removed from the agenda,” the head of state has noted.

Gagloev has emphasized that political forces must bear responsibility for their statements, as this concerns the security of the people.

The stay of the Red Cross in South Ossetia has been extended

The stay of the International Committee of the Red Cross in South Ossetia has been extended; a corresponding decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers at the meeting on Wednesday.

The issue was submitted to the Government by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Akhsar Dzhioev.

“The Red Cross has been doing some humanitarian work and the government gives them permission to do their work. I ask you to support the issue of extending their mission in the Republic,” the Minister said.

The proposal was unanimously supported by members of the Cabinet.
