The Georgian delegation at the Geneva discussions is trying to transfer the conversation into the Georgian-Russian plane, and therefore the South Ossetian delegation at every round reminds that the discussions are held because Georgia attacked South Ossetia, the head of the South Ossetian delegation, at the Geneva discussions Murat Dzhioev said at a briefing on Tuesday, summing up the 48th round.
“Moreover, I even said that each round must begin with a reminder of the reasons for the discussions - this is Georgia’s attack on South Ossetia, and the Medvedev-Sarkozy agreements provide for ensuring security of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The evidence of this fact is also served by the findings of the independent commission of the European Union under the leadership of Mrs. Tagliavini, which say that on August 8, 2008, it was Georgia that attacked South Ossetia,” the Plenipotentiary said.
The 48th round of the Geneva discussions ended in early June. The talks are held since September 2008 in accordance with the agreements of the then presidents of Russia and France - Medvedev and Sarkozy, the sixth point of which provides for the start of international discussions on ensuring the security of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
According to Murat Dzhioev, the main point remains the elaboration of a document ensuring the security of South Ossetia and the Republic of Armenia from Georgia, as well as a number of humanitarian issues arising from the Georgian aggression against South Ossetia.
